  IMS and Fixed Mobile Convergence

IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) has rapidly emerged as a key element in the development of next-generation networks, both fixed and mobile, Thereby, giving it a central role in all future networking. It enables multiple services to be delivered over multiple networks and multiple technologies. This makes the ability to differentiate a service somehow key to the communication service providers' business model.

One of the implications of the IMS architecture is that the number of end-services will be orders of magnitudes greater than they have been historically. Customer profiles, service logic and charging capabilities would span networks and technologies.

A clear trend is also emerging in the form of fixed and mobile telephony convergence (FMC). The aim is to provide both services with a single phone, which could switch between networks ad hoc. Fixed Mobile Convergence Alliance, with 26 members, has created increased focus on work to encourage the seamless integration of mobile and fixed-line telephony services

AGNITY team has experience working with several vendor partners in creating IMS architectures built to standard specifications laid out by the Third-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP and 3GPP-2) and the Telecom & Internet Converged Services & Protocol for Advanced Networks (TISPAN). It also has developed one of the first dual mode handset, which could switch between networks.

AGNITY offering will help the cost of service creation and delivery drop significantly. Communication Service Providers will thus be enabled to focus more on service management capabilities, including service assurance, order management and billing.
