Communications Landscape
Networks in carriers' space are undergoing change. Fixed Line Networks,
pivoted on SS7 based TDM infrastructures are giving way to VOIP and IMS.
Wireless Networks are moving from GSM/CDMA to 3G/IMS and WIMAX. Cable
MSOs are evolving from their networks to provide Voice and Multimedia
Services based on Packet Cable standards. Cable MSOs are working towards
complying with Packet Cable to support Quad play. Enterprise networks
plan to replace their TDM PBXs to IP PBXs and are adopting VOIP in their
Business processes.
3GPP, TISPAN, and Packet Cable have developed standards for next generation
networks for fixed mobile convergence and to deliver multimedia content
with chargeable Quality of Services. Many market players are attempting
to deliver the best "triple- or quadruple-play" combination of voice,
data and video in ways that leverage their unique strengths. However,
the key to a successful IMS/Convergence adoption is to create a compelling
new experience for end users.
The telecommunications industry is at a turning point. The network transformation
is a major challenge to the industry. A group of known, proven technologies
and systems are now being replaced. The challenges, beyond technology, encompass
changes across all the operational sub-systems of the network. The service
providers' success will be defined not only by their ability to maximize
existing assets, but, more important, to capitalize on the new technologies
and business models that are emerging. AGNITY is committed to the communications
industry, and we are focused on building strong relationships with service
providers in network transformation.
