Alestra Deploys AGNITY NGIN Solution to Transform its Existing Network Infrastructure to Next-Generation Communication Services throughout Mexico

SILICON VALLEY – May 18, 2009 – AGNITY, a leading provider of application solutions and services to mobile and fixed line service providers and enterprises, announced today that the company’s ACONYX Next-Gen IN™ applications are now deployed and in service by Alestra, Mexico’s leading provider of telecommunication solutions, network solutions, advanced voice and data services. The introduction of these NGIN services allowed Alestra to upgrade its SCP-based (service control point) platform and enable the company to offer the same services on its VoIP and IMS network infrastructure. The ACONYX LNP application and accompanying migration tools helped Alestra meet the recent local number portability (LNP) mandates.

AGNITY’s ACONYX NGIN is a carrier-grade solution, built ground up utilizing the AGNITY ACONYX™ Service Oriented Communications Architecture (SOCA), a software component-framework. The ACONYX Next-Gen IN suite of applications includes: Advanced Toll Free, Account Codes, Voice Virtual Private Networks, Automated Call Distribution and Local Number Portability. The ACONYX NGIN allows carriers to reduce CAPEX and OPEX by allowing solutions based on off-the-shelf hardware, single solution to support both IN and IP networks, and by using latest technologies for management and provisioning. By providing tools and techniques for network and service migration ACONYX makes the process extremely seamless for the carriers and their end customers.

Alestra conducted an evaluation process and selected AGNITY’s solution during 2007. AGNITY completed a Network Transformation project to the ACONYX framework, and it now supports subscribers throughout Mexico. With the introduction of ACONYX Next-Gen IN, AGNITY enabled Alestra to retain the same carrier-class reliability and scalability in this environment, but with greater flexibility on CAPEX and OPEX.

“Alestra is committed to provide a superb user experience to its customers, with innovative and reliable services,” said Alestra CEO Rolando Zubiran. “We successfully achieved all LNP compliance requirements stated by our regulators and helped our customers to achieve their business goals, thanks to joint teamwork and support between AGNITY and Alestra.”

“LNP for all wireline and wireless carriers was a regulatory directive that was implemented simultaneously, overnight and countrywide in Mexico during 2008. This was an extremely complex requirement, but we achieved and exceeded all our operational and business goals, working with our technology vendors, and AGNITY played a critical role for such a successful project,” said Alejandro Irigoyen, vice president of network operations and systems at Alestra

“Alestra embraced a nationwide vision of becoming a role model for seamlessly and rapidly transforming its telecom infrastructure to meet increasing demand for next-generation services,” said Alestra CTO Adrian Cuadros. “We have found a committed partner in AGNITY to provide innovative solutions that help us meet regulatory and market demands. AGNITY helped us with the migration of existing applications and will provide new value-added intelligent routing and multimedia services as we expand into new local markets.”

Said AGNITY CEO Sanjeev Chawla: “We have demonstrated our unique expertise in transforming Alestra’s network that not only benefits its customers but also enables the company to expand into new markets with new services that a service-oriented communications architecture provides. As Alestra builds out, we can provide deployment-ready applications to increase service value to its existing and new subscribers.”
